The AGENDA has been adjusted for the 2022 Conference and Trade Show.  The AFCA will kick off the Conference on Sunday, May 29 with a Keynote Speaker and Workshop prior to the Opening Ceremonies and Memorial Service.   The Conference will conclude on Tuesday, May 30.  Please reference the AGENDA to view the full details.

The Alberta Fire Chiefs Association will be hosting its 74th Annual Conference, AGM and Trade Show at The Cambridge Red Deer Hotel & Conference Centre, Red Deer, Alberta.  The Conference will be held from Sunday, May 29 to Tuesday, May 31, 2022.

Delegate Registration Fee Details

  • Entrance into the Trade Show; all plenary sessions and conference streams on Tuesday.
  • Trade Show welcome reception on Sunday May 29  will be held in the Event Centre, Cambridge Red Deer Hotel & Conference Centre.
  • Breakfast and lunch on Monday, May 30 and Tuesday, May 31.  
  • AFCA Annual Banquet with entertainment will be held on Monday, May 30 in the Tuscany Ballroom of The Cambridge Red Deer Hotel & Conference Centre.  
  • Coffee breaks on Monday, May 30 and Tuesday, May 31.  
Trade Show is scheduled on Sunday, May 29 from 18:00 to 20:00 and again on Monday, May 30 from 09:00 to 16:30 in the Event Centre, Cambridge Red Deer Hotel & Conference Centre.

Pre-conference Training - Saturday, May 28, Sylvan Lake Golf & Country Club from 10:30 to 16:00

The L-180, Human Factors in the Fire Service, exposes students to human performance concepts as part of basic firefighter training. This training course is designed for unit-level supervisors to use when delivering orientation training to new crew members. Presentation of the course involves a few short lecture segments, and supported with small group exercises. Topics include situational awareness, basic communication responsibilities, attitude and stress barriers, decision-making process, and teamwork principles. And is the foundation to the L280 – Followership to Leadership, & L380 – Fire Ground Leadership courses.  This is a great first step in the understanding of human factors and how the effect the Fire Service.
At the end of the course, students will be able to practice decision-making skills using simulation as a member of a fire crew, and students will apply their Human Factors knowledge to a variety of scenarios. Throughout the simulation, students will answer questions and make decisions regarding situation awareness and hazard identification, decision-making, and team cohesion. Responses are tracked, and then reported at the end of the activity.

Substitution and Refund Option

Delegate registrations are non-refundable as of Thursday April 28, 2022.  If you are unable to attend the conference, a substitute participant from your organization may attend in your place.  

AFCA Annual Banquet - Monday, May 30

The AFCA is delighted to have the Amazing Game Show at the AFCA Annual Banquet on Monday, May 30 in the Tuscany Ballroom of the Cambridge Red Deer Hotel & Conference Centre. 


The Banquet ticket is included in a full delegate and partner registration fee.  Please provide dietary restriction details in your registration form.
Additional tickets can be purchased for guests and day pass registrant through the registration site.  The Banquet ticket is $70.00 plus GST.

AFCA Annual Golf Tournament

Please join your AFCA members, trades and sponsors for a fun day on the links on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at the Sylvan Lake Golf and Country Club.  
The tournament fee is $150.00 plus GST which includes, green fees, cart and a delicious BBQ dinner.
Delegates and Trades can add the golf fee to their conference and trade show registration or purchase golf separately by following the Golf Registration Page link.  
If you do not golf, you are welcome to join the BBQ dinner at 16:00 in the Club House.  The fee for just the dinner is $50.00 plus GST.  Please follow the Golf Registration Page to complete your registration and purchase your BBQ ticket.  
We have a great networking and BBQ planned as this will be the first time in 3 years that the AFCA delegates, trades and sponsors will be back together!

Conference Mobile App

The AFCA will have a Conference App at the AFCA 2022 Annual Conference and Trade Show.  The App will include the agenda; speakers; trade show floor plan with the ability to view digital files from trades showcasing their products and services; the ability to communicate between delegates, gamification, polling, amongst other features.  Stay tuned as we get closer to the Conference and Trade Show.  The app will be available to all registered delegates, trades and partners.  

Alberta Fire Service Instructors Symposium – Friday, May 25 AND Saturday, May 26

The fee for the Instructors Workshop is $xxx.00 plus GST.  Space is limited and Delegates can purchase this pre-conference session by visiting *********** to complete your registration.

Donations for the AFCA Silent Auction

The AFCA would be pleased to accept silent auction donations and the benefactor will be the Edmonton Firefighters Burn Treatment Society.
The Fire Fighters Burn Treatment Society is managed and operated by Edmonton firefighters who volunteer their time. Monies raised are presented to the Firefighters Burn Unit, University of Alberta Hospital. The FF BTS designates that the funds be used to purchase new specialized equipment for the burn unit ensuring enhanced patient care and for the continuing education of burn treatment staff to remain current in new treatment techniques and for funds to be designated to the burn camp held annually.
