AFCA 2019 Conference and Trade Show

The Alberta Fire Chiefs Association will be hosting its 72nd Annual Conference, AGM and Trade Show at Westerner Park and The Cambridge Red Deer Hotel & Conference Centre, Red Deer, Alberta.  The Conference will be held from Sunday, May 26 to Wednesday, May 29, 2019. 

Delegate Registration Fee Details

  • Entrance into the Trade Show; all plenary sessions and conference streams on Tuesday.
  • Trade Show welcome reception on Sunday May 26  will be held in the Stockmen's Pavilion and Exhibition Hall, Westerner Park.
  • Breakfast and lunch each day
  • BBQ on Monday, May 27 in the Prairie Pavilion, Westerner Park following the trade show. 
  • AFCA Annual Banquet with entertainment on Tuesday, May 28 in the Tuscany Ballroom, The Cambridge Red Deer Hotel & Conference Centre
  • Coffee breaks
Trade Show is scheduled on Sunday, May 26 from 17:00 to 20:00 and again on Monday, May 27 from 09:00 to 16:30 in the Stockmen's Pavilion and Exhibition Hall, Westerner Park.

Substitution and Refund Option

Delegate registrations are non-refundable AFTER Friday, April 26, 2019.  If you are unable to attend the conference, a substitute participant from your organization may attend in your place.  

AFCA BBQ - Monday, May 27

The AFCA will host a BBQ in the Prairie Pavilion, Westerner Park on Monday evening.  The BBQ is included in a full delegate registration fee.
Tickets can be purchased for guests and day pass registrants through the registration site.  The BBQ ticket is $43.00 plus GST.  

AFCA Annual Banquet - Tuesday, May 28

The AFCA is delighted to have Double Vision perform at the AFCA Annual Banquet on Tuesday, May 28 in the Tuscany Ballroom of the Cambridge Red Deer Hotel & Conference Centre. 


Canada's only identical twin magic act presents their award-winning comedy and magic.  


Double Vision has been bringing amazement and laughter to audiences across North America for over twenty eight years.  The Magic Castle in Hollywood, the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto and the Prime Ministers residence in Ottawa are just some of their career highlights.


Experience mind reading (they knew you'd read this), teleportation (you'll be travelling to the show) and cloning (they're identical twins).  The duos improvisational skills add an "anything can happen" element and the comedy and magic feature their unique twin twist that brings it all together.  Enjoy the show become a part of TWINstory! 

The Banquet ticket is included in a full delegate and partner registration fee.
Additional tickets can be purchased for guests and day pass registrant through the registration site.  The Banquet ticket is $70.00 plus GST.

Conference App

The AFCA is introducing  a Conference App at the AFCA 2019 Annual Conference and Trade Show.  The App will include the agenda; speakers; trade show floor plan; the ability to communicate between delegates, amongst other features.  Stay tuned as we get closer to the Conference and Trade Show.  The app will be available to all registered delegates, trades and partners.  

Complimentary Shuttle Service

The AFCA is providing complimentary shuttles from the Cambridge Red Deer Hotel & Conference Centre and Sandman Hotel Red Deer to the Westerner Park on Sunday, May 26 and Monday, May 27, 2019


Shuttle schedules will be available on the mobile app and posted in the lobby of the two hotels and the Westerner Park. 

Alberta Fire Service Instructors Symposium – Friday, May 25 AND Saturday, May 26

Sunday, May 26 from 09:00 to 11:00 – Pre-Conference Session -- Core Competency Presentation

Did you know the Fire Service is the only emergency service without defined core competencies?  Through the efforts of the AFCA’s Core Competency Committee, Transitional Solutions Inc. (TSI) presents a Core Competency Guidance Framework and Risk Assessment Tool to ensure the safety of our fire fighters and our communities.

Sunday, May 26 – The Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal Presentation

The AFCA and the Office of the Fire Commissioner will be hosting the Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal Investiture in the Prairie  Pavilion, Westerner Park from 12:00 to 14:00.
The Medal is administered by the Chancellery of Canadian Orders and Decorations in Ottawa. The federal, provincial, and territorial jurisdictions independently recommend eligible and deserving members of the Fire Services to the Chancellery.  Delegates are welcome to join and the medal recipients in the Ballroom.

Donations for the AFCA Silent Auction

The AFCA would be pleased to accept silent auction donations and the benefactor will be the Edmonton Firefighters Burn Treatment Society.
The Fire Fighters Burn Treatment Society is managed and operated by Edmonton firefighters who volunteer their time. Monies raised are presented to the Firefighters Burn Unit, University of Alberta Hospital. The FF BTS designates that the funds be used to purchase new specialized equipment for the burn unit ensuring enhanced patient care and for the continuing education of burn treatment staff to remain current in new treatment techniques and for funds to be designated to the burn camp held annually.
