Dear Computing Industry Colleagues,
This is the Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation (SPEC) first concerted outreach to Asia, considered the world's largest market for vendors and consumers of computer products and services. On October 27, we will conduct a symposium and on October 28, we will host informal discussions on various topics of interest. It will be held in Beijing, China, hosted by Inspur, one of SPEC's Members.
SPEC will present the symposium to inform and connect with industry practitioners and academic researchers. It will be an overview of SPEC initiatives across a wide range of performance evaluation areas, and includes a more in-depth look at server efficiency efforts worldwide. The informal discussion topics range from What SPEC Measures to Big Data Trends.
This will be an opportunity to bring together computing researchers, policy makers, government agencies, industry practitioners and others interested in performance and energy-efficiency evaluation to learn about SPEC, share ideas, discuss challenges and present results.
In the days prior to the SPEC Symposiums, two of SPEC's Open System Groups, the CPU and Power subcommittee meetings will be meeting to conduct business. If you are interested in observing how SPEC subcommittee meetings work, the Wednesday afternoon sessions can be attended by Symposium attendees. SPEC does require a SPEC non-disclosure agreement/guest participation statement to be completed and signed. For more information about it, please contact SPEC Headquarters via email at info@spec.org.
While at the session, you will be able to see how the SPEC process works; specifics on the participation will be governed by what is the subcommittee is talking about. Please indicate your interest by checking the appropriate boxes on the registration form.
Once you have registered, SPEC may use your information to contact you regarding the SPEC symposiums, Round Table Discussion and the SPEC/OSG Technical Meetings. SPEC's privacy policy states we do not share the information collected with other organizations. Inspur is the Host Company and will be providing the Invitation Letters that may be required by some to obtain a VISA. We will need to provide them with your information as they are providing these letters. There is checkbox on the registration form to allow you to request this letter.
SPEC invites sponsors to help us make this event a success and receive recognition for your support. Please see the “Sponsor” page for more information.
We look forward to seeing you in Beijing.
Sincerely,
Walter Bays, SPEC President
