Detailed Description
Do you have iPads, iPhones, mobile devices or computers in your classroom? Are you interested in discovering how to engage students in learning and achieving curriculum assessment goals while integrating digital media across subject areas?
 
Using some amazing apps and programs, you can learn the basics of creating digital stories, newscasts, personal narratives, green screen, time lapse and stop motion animation. 
 
The three-day workshop will provide participants with hands on experience in using free apps to create digital stories. We will provide many examples of student work that support learning across the curriculum, how to tutorials and opportunities to collaborate to create a variety of apps and programs. We will also share strategies to provide critical feedback on digital work and places and spaces to exhibit digital media. 
 
In this summer institute, participants will be learning to:
  • Locate and download free iPad/iPhone apps and computer programs
  • Understand the role of digital storytelling in a cross curriculum integrated program while supporting the 6 C’s (Creativity, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Communication, Character and Change)
  • Understand the digital storytelling production cycle
  • Understand the use of Creative Commons in the digital storytelling process
  • Use a variety of apps and programs to create a digital story
  • Use iPads, iPhones effectively to shoot a variety of media (photos, animations, video, sound)
  • Create a green screen and stop motion animation digital story
  • Use the Critical Response method to provide feedback on digital stories
  • Create a space to share and exhibit student digital media.
