In this summer institute, educators will have an opportunity to learn, explore and share educational technology tools that transform teaching and learning. Educators will be exposed to an array of tools ideal for a variety of grades and subject areas. Participants will be taught how to use these tools in the classroom setting, how to identify tools that can enhance their teaching practice, and contribute to the curation of available edtech tools for all educators.
In this summer institute teachers will begin by learning about Google Apps for Education, explore available class management systems (examples include Moodle, Edmodo, Google Classroom and Classcraft), and experiment with free, user-friendly web 2.0 educational tools.
Educators will learn how to implement modern strategies such as the flipped classroom, inquiry and problem-based learning, as well as gamification through the use of technology.Participants will contribute to and share in the construction of an online archive where educators can locate and access educational technology tools available to all teachers.
By the end of this summer institute participants will know a variety of tools suitable for their grade and subject area, have access to an arsenal of available tools suitable for different and specific purposes, and will be able to identify whether a tech tool can enhance their practice.
