Keeping Your Community and Family Safe: Knowing the Dangers of Carbon Monoxide

Date: Wednesday, August 26 2015
Time: 2:15 - 3:15 p.m.
Room: Erin Mills

Carbon Monoxide (CO) is a colourless, odourless, tasteless, poisonous gas produced by incomplete burning of carbon-based fuels including gas, oil, wood and coal. Carbon monoxide is called the “silent killer” because you can’t see, smell or taste it.  This session covers the properties of Carbon Monoxide and how it may be produced, exposure limits and the various side effects suffered by people who have been exposed to hazardous amounts of CO. A demonstration of an approved CO alarm will be tested.
