There is also funding available from various jurisdictions as per individual collective agreements.
Please contact your local to inquire about amounts or possible PD funding available to staff (both teaching and support staff). Need to apply early as the general PD funding pot is depleted before the end of each year.
 
 
Samples of funding available from jurisdictions:
CALGARY BOARD OF EDUCATION
Funding for Teachers: Local 38 Collective Agreement $400/year, $850/ 2 years, or $1500/3 years; additional funding may be available from individual schools with the principal's approval (in addition to individual PD funding allotment). Funding for Support Staff: CBE Collective Agreement for Professional Support Staff (unspecified amount in Collective Agreement; decided on case by case, but usually $1000 per year) (ESL Assistant, Educational Assistant, Interpreters, Diversity Workers, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, etc.). Funding is subject to eligibility and availability. Apply early before funding runs out.

CALGARY SEPARATE SCHOOL DISTRICT
Funding for Teachers:  Local 55 Collective Agreement - Professional Growth Subsidies $1200 for out of city and in province, and will cover up to two days for a substitute. Click here for the application or call (403) 265-2678 for more information.
 
Funding for Support Staff: The District offers PD funding for full-time and part-time employees. Information can be found on the website at CSSD Intranet www.cssd.ab.ca. Go to HR-Documents-Support Staff-Professional Development and Unifor website www.uniforlocal1990.ca under Tools and Resources.

EDMONTON PUBLIC SCHOOL BOARD
Funding Available to Teachers: Local 37 Teacher Development Fund Pilot Project – up to $2100 to cover conference fee, meals not included in the registration, mileage and substitute costs may be available.

Funding for Support Staff: Local 3550 does not have funds for EAs or ESL assistants. However, it was suggested that any support staff who is interested in attending to approach his/her principal for funding.
 
EDMONTON CATHOLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT/EDMONTON CATHOLIC TEACHERS
Funding for Teachers: Local 54 - $650 is available plus the cost of a sub. Click for Local 54's website or call 780-451-1196 for more information.
 
Funding for Support Staff: Local 52A - There may be funding available for ESL Assistants and Educational Assistants to attend the conference. On first come first served basis and the local encourages support staff to seek funding at the school level, if at all possible. FOOTHILLS SCHOOL DISTRICT
Funding for Teachers:  Local 14 has a Professional Development fund available to teachers on a yearly basis. Click for forms or link for Local 14's website.
 
Funding for Support Staff: Local 5040 - not specified in collective agreement. Contact CUPE Alberta to inquire or get Local 5040 contact information

RED DEER CATHOLIC (RCSSD)
Funding for Teachers: Local 80 - $550 one year, $1100 for two, with a max three years of $1650 in addition to substitute costs (Apply with the Professional Growth Subsidy Committee) Click to view Local 80's website for more information. 
 
Funding for Support Staff: (ESL Assistants, Educational Assistants, etc): Support staff are encouraged to ask for PD funding through their local and school. Decisions are based on need by the district/principal with no specified limit allowed for PD to support staff; it is different from school to school, and year to year. 
 
 
RED DEER PUBLIC SCHOOL (RDPS)
