Lana Lane is an Independent Literary Consultant. She has been a classroom teacher of a Pre-K-Gr 2, an Instructional Literacy Coach, and was recently hired by the LRDAA (Learning Disabilities Association of Alberta) to facilitate workshops on the RRST (Reading Readiness Screening Tool). Lana has spent numerous years studying the five essential elements of the effective reading instruction; Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary, and Comprehension. Literacy always finds her, and she enjoys sharing this passion with others.
Janice Dunn is a local artist from Cold Lake, AB who has many years of experience creating unique pieces including watercolour, sculpture, collage, etc. She is excited to share her passion for art with us and give some practical hands on experience and advice. Participants will leave with a personalized art exemplar that will go along with our theme of giraffes.
Lana's Literary Focus and Janice's Art
Lana Lane is thrilled to be presenting to our ECEC members and is looking forward to sharing her joy of Literacy. Come prepared to engage in hands on Literacy Games - great for centres and differentiated instruction, and opportunity for collaboration with like minded colleagues.  Games will focus on phonemic awareness, rhyme, vocabulary lesson development and more. You will receive a free take home kit with games ready to use the next day as part of your registration fee; this also includes a book with time to develop a vocabulary lesson that day.
Janice Dunn will lead us in creating a unique piece of art work to take home as an exemplar to use in your classroom the next day. She will also offer tips and tricks to navigating different art techniques.
Session is at Two Hills Mennonite starting at 9:00 am - 3:00 pm.
