Merry and Bright FAQs

Weather:
We’ve been soooo good this year we are expecting Santa to give us clear skies for all of December. That said, should we have to cancel due to weather we will contact all ticketholders with an option to book on an alternate night. Watch Facebook, Instagram and/or our Website or updates.

COVID-19 Precautions & Screening:
As per provincial requirements, you will need your COVID vaccine passport to enjoy the festival. Please be prepared with your vaccine passport (NLVaxPass) and photo identification ready to present upon arrival at the Garden.

We are following provincial guidelines, so for any updates, please visit the provincial COVID-19 website.

Tickets:
How do I purchase tickets?
Tickets are available to purchase online only, starting November 15. Please visit https://event-wizard.com/2021MerryandBright/0/register/

I need 3 tickets, but the system will only let me purchase 1. What's wrong?
This indicates that there is only one ticket left. We may be able to re-allocate from other ticket types, if available. Please email us at garden@mun.ca.

Can I buy tickets at the door?
This year, to facilitate contract tracing and ensure we abide by COVID capacity restrictions, tickets will only be available online.

Can I use coupons or passes?
Sorry! Garden admission coupons, Season Passes, and Friends of the Garden memberships are not accepted for this annual fundraising event.

What happens if I am running late for my timed ticket?
Did you purchase the 5:00 – 6:30 pm visit time, but you are running late?  Not to worry, your tickets will be honoured for the later time slot on that same night. Last shuttle to the Garden is 7:30pm.

Can I return my tickets?
All sales are final. Tickets are non-refundable.

Can I change nights?
Yes! Please use the link in your confirmation email to return to the ticketing system. De-select your original tickets, set them to 0, and then select tickets for your new date/time. Click "Proceed to Your Registration Information." Confirm your information on the next page and click "Submit." Please note that, should you request fewer or lower-priced tickets for your new date, the system will show a negative amount owing. Tickets are non-refundable, so we are unable to refund that amount to you.

You can change tickets to any night with space still available. If you are switching nights, please do so before 7pm on the original night the ticket was purchased for. If you need help, do not hesitate to contact us via email at garden@mun.ca.

Should I have gotten a confirmation email with barcode tickets? Yes! Unfortunately, some of the ticket emails sometimes go to junk/spam boxes, and there seems to be a delay.  If you purchased your tickets and still don't see them in your spam or junk box by the next day please send us a message (on Facebook, or via email).

I accidentally deleted my email with the tickets! Help! No problem! We can resend your email for you when the staff are in the office (2-5pm on festival days).

Pets, Pictures and Paths
Can I bring my pet?
Sorry, but no. Only certified service animals will be permitted entry.

Why do I have to stay on the paths?
Our collection of plants are rather special and many will be damaged or die if stepped on. In addition, their sharp labels could pose a safety risk to you if you go into the plant beds. These labels are hard to see in the dark - even more so if we have a blanket of snow!

Can I take my wedding pictures at Merry and Bright?
Sure! We can’t guarantee a special spot, but you are most welcome to take any special occasion picture on paths and open areas not planted, or, of course, our special ‘photo-op’ stations.  No additional charges apply but do note that wedding/party/special occasion vehicles will not be permitted in the main parking lots.

Other Questions:
How accessible is the event?
The Festival is a winter walking experience and accessibility depends on the weather conditions. As an outdoor event, accessibility can be compromised by snow and ice. Visitors should be aware there are areas with steep grades where assistance is recommended for mobility aids, wheelchairs, and/or scooters.

How long did it take to string all those lights? Good question! Our amazing team spends about 8 weeks hanging lights to show off the garden at its winter best.

How many lights you ask?
A lot! We lost count but estimate we use approximately 100,000 LED lights to create this magical night time experience.

Can I buy hot chocolate?
You bet! There will be hot chocolate and yummy treats available for purchase.

Can I buy any Christmas presents?
Absolutely! Garden Gifts in the Field Centre will be open, with seasonal specials.

What nights are choirs scheduled? We have the following choirs/nights scheduled, and we hope to be adding more as the event gets closer:
