KPMG is pleased to announce and invite you to this year’s AML training events. The sessions we are running this year include:

  • Three Industry Specific AML Round Tables; and
  • Two MLRO training sessions.

Guest speakers to be announced closer to the sessions.

AML Industry Specific Round Tables

These AML round table sessions will provide open and collaborative forums to discuss industry-specific Anti-Money Laundering / Anti-Terrorist Financing (AML/ATF) compliance issues.

The AML round tables will cover the following topics:

  • Interpreting sanctions restrictions,
  • Determining ultimate beneficial owners in complex structures,
  • The application of effective customer due diligence procedures,
  • Dealing with domestic and international politically exposed persons,
  • Obtaining appropriate source of wealth and source of funds information for high risk customers,
  • Manual transactions monitoring techniques, and
  • Conducting effective desktop research for customers with common and uncommon names.

2 CPD credits per session.

MLRO Training Sessions

These training sessions are designed to fulfill the annual training requirements of MLROs, but the content is also relevant to all staff involved in AML/ATF compliance.

The MLRO training sessions will cover the following topics:

  • Cheryl-Ann Lister (Chairman - NAMLC) and Ms. Paula C. Tyndale (National Coordinator at the Office of NAMLC) will provide insights into Bermuda's AML/ATF mutual evaluation process as defined by FATF; the preparation activities that will lead up to the evaluation; and other things we should all be aware of such as the roles to played by both industry and the AML/ATF authorities starting now (including how industry will be involved in the evaluation process)
  • AML Legislative changes in Bermuda

    • Business risk assessment;
    • Policies and procedures;
    • Third Party reliance;
    • Controlling persons; and
    • Independent testing.
  • CSP - Legislation update;

  • Integrity due diligence, special focus on PEP's; and
